Is it just us, or does it seem crazy that we are already four months into 2019? It seems like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating the holiday season, and now, with the blink of an eye, another winter has come and gone here in Gainesville! No matter how quickly time seems to be passing for you, one thing is certain; spring has officially sprung, and plenty of days of sunshine and gorgeous temperatures are ahead of us. Now that this joyous season of renewal is finally here, it’s time to get out the calendars and keep an eye on upcoming events this season, events that not only guarantee a wonderful time with family and friends, but also some quality time in the great outdoors. We don’t know about you, but the Gainesville Spring Chicken Festival seems like an ideal way to welcome spring and all of its pleasures.
The Gainesville Spring Chicken Festival celebrates our town’s reputation as being the poultry capital of the world. Taking place on Saturday, April 27th from 11:00 am-3:00 pm in Longwood Park, the day consists of plenty of entertaining (and tasty) activities. For only $6, the Cluck Card allows you to enjoy 10 ample samples of delicious chicken AND vote for your favorite entry in the annual chicken cook-off! The money raised from this tasty celebration will go to scholarships for students entering into the poultry or related fields! Follow the event’s page on Facebook to stay up to date on everything and anything related to this memorable event.
